Our art prints are sourced from obscure works, and are ones you won't find anywhere else. Combining our love for design with our passion for books, these prints make the perfect gift for the bookworm or bookish artist in your life.
This piece is extracted from naturalist, author, and illustrator, William Saville-Kent's "The Great Barrier Reef of Australia" (1893).
A masterwork of nature illustration, the work features numerous plates, hand-drawn and colored by Saville-Kent. Including - this one. Kent's fascination was with corals, and he spent his time working for the British Museum, naming and arranging them, but dreaming of seeing them in the wild, imagining them as he worked, "in their native seas and wonderful living tints." And his illustrations of them, and other marine life, were among the first to truly do them justice, and show the world how they exist in the wild, beneath the waves.
Perfect for maritime history and marine bio lovers (like me!), or to match that fresh nautical design aesthetic you have going on, or for the naturalist in your life.
